This is a modern and cozy apartment, full of character and light, set on the first floor (Drto) of an ancient typical Lisbon building in the trendy and vibrant Bairro Alto, known as one of the most attractive and picturesque areas of the Lisbon’s city center. This apartment is part of a group of 7 apartments that we have in this building.
The apartment has one bedroom with a double bed, and a double sofa bed in the living room, a nice bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, ready to cook home made meals. Towels and linens at your disposal are included in the price and satelite Tv and wireless internet as well.
To set forth on a discovery of Lisbon, there is no better place to begin: the tram a few steps away, international brand shops at Chiado and the more daring fashions in Bairro Alto, where you also have the trendiest restaurants of Lisbon. Bica neighbourhood, close by, is becoming a night haven for artists and intellectuals. But this does not destroy the calm and charm of Rua das Chagas. For theatre and opera lovers there are three theatre houses at a five minute distance, S. Carlos, S. Luiz and Trindade Theatres.
Chiado is where Lisbon's history and urbanity meet. This tourist area of the capital begins at the Brasileira café, on Rua Garrett. Opened in 1905. It´s one of Lisbon's postcards. On the side walk café you will find the different urban tribes and a statue of poet Fernando Pessoa, who offers his lap for tourist photos.
Next to it, two churches remind the vanished towers of Santa Catarina Gate. The Church of Loreto, built in 1528 by Italians living in Lisbon, was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, but later rebuilt and one of the places to visit on Chiado. The Church of Encarnação, inaugurated in 1708, was also hit in 1755 and rebuilt later. But Chiado has more than just two churches to see.
Luís de Camões square, which any Lisboner will call Largo Camões, is not just a passing place. Sit on the steps of the poet's monument and enjoy the bustle that Chiado has.
But do not leave Chiado without inquiring about the theatres. São Luiz Municipal Theatre was one of Lisbon's first cinemas. Today it is a municipal theatre with a rich and varied programming. Also glimpse the Teatro Trindade and the S. Carlos Opera House.
This is one of the city´s best shopping areas. You will find international brand shops (Hermès and Hugo Boss, for example) and great Portuguese designers like José António Tenente (Tv. Carmo, 8) StoryTailors (Cç. Do Ferragial, 8) or Atelier Alves/Gonçalves (Tv. Guilherme Cossul, 16).
It is not difficult to come across public figures, mainly artists. There are several art schools in the area, like the Fine Arts Faculty. Even if you are not an expert, venture into the Chiado Museum - National Museum of Contemporary Art (Rua Serpa Pinto, 4) besides well-cared exhibitions, it has a pleasant patio to have lunch or simply sip a coffee. There is also a big offer for meals: Café Royale, New Wok and Kaffee Hause are excellent choices.
Walk the streets with care, the movement on the sidewalks is always heavy and the trams are constantly passing.

Clean and tidy apartment, a small minus would be that it is because of poorly insulated door is heard very much from the stairwell, but on the other hand, there are not many others who live in the building. If you don't mind walking around, the location is perfect, in the older part of Lisbon. The host was very nice and helpful, we would definitely recommend this apartment.
The apartement was brilliant - rustic and cosy.. and situated in a nice area. We loved the coolness on the very hot days. The beds were good as well.
We could have wished a little more equipment in the kitchen - but we managed fine nevertheless.
Fine apartment for 3 persons.
Nice, clean and modern flat in between tiny roads not far away from Bairro Alto (when you know the right way, its less than 10 min to walk...). A Metro station as well as a supermarket are only a 10 minutes walk away. But sadly we couldn`t get any information about the location of the supermarket or any nearby helpful shops at the keyexchange from the responsible person.
Nevertheless the flat is equipped with many usefull things like hairdryer, hot iron, TV and free WIFI and it is located in a relatively quiet area of lisbon. The flat is in the second floor without elevator. The kitchen provides most of the needed cooking tools like pans, knives etc., but unfortunately we had to buy salt, oil vinegar and all the basic ingredients for cooking. There was no dish soap or cloth for cleaning the dishes or a regular soap in the bathroom. This was the only critics we have, thats why we give 4 out of 5 stars. Apart from that the flat is excellent.
Very friendly contact and easy communication in english with the contact person per email or message.
This is definitively a nice way to stay in Lisbon for a couple of days and a good chance to explore the city. thanks, alex and annette
Great place to stay. Closed to every important place and really confortable. The welcome and support from the guys was more than perfect. Will be back soon.
Wonderfully located some 800 metres north-east of Rossio over the roof-tops of historical Lisbon we enjoyed a magnificent sight over the City and Tejo. Some minor issues were the lack of toilet paper, a towel for the dishes and too few cups for the three of us. Things, that should be fixed, apart from this it has been a very good accomodation! So in total 4/5.
Very nice, friendly &helpful people.
Well equipped, very comfortable flat, situated in quiet neighborhood, but in the center -good localisation.
We are satisfied and really recommend this apartment.
Great Place in the middle of Barrio Alto.
- Clean place, fresh towels and bedsheats
- Even though located in a nightlife area it is in a quiet street
- Hand-over of keys in a very organized and professional way
- very confortable bed and cosy bedsheets
- well equipped kitchen
- The flat is far smaller than promised in the description. I would say max. 45 m².
- walls are like paper (you can hear every word and sound of your neighbours)
Overall a good 4 stars and I would definitely come again.
Very nice appartment on the fourth floor. Perfect location in Bairro Alto close to many bars and restaurants, but in a quiet street. Nice and friendly host.
5 stars out of 5.
Everything as described and wonderfully reliable hosts made this a memorable stay. Big like. Next time Lisboa we will be around again.
The apartment is in an ideal location, close to all-you-can-need local groceries and spot on restaurants, where we could feel the spirit of the old Lisbon. Well equipped, although we lacked some small details like dishwasher tablets ;-) It is on the steep hill, so getting up and down twice a day was a bit exhausting (esp. that we were with small children), so may be a minus, unless keeping fit is your priority. The kids got used to in the end, too :)
Nevertheless if we vistited Lisbon again, we would definately come back there.
Thanks for a warm welcome to Joanna!
